About the Work
Bleeding, the Trees Are explores self-perception, roots, and transformation through cultural diversity and personal identity. Developed with four performers from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds, the work grew through questions, shared experiences, and collaborative exchange. Images of roots, blood, and bone intertwine with the dancers’ lived stories. The choreography seeks connections across difference, reflecting on resilience, vulnerability, and renewal through the experiences brought into the creative process.
The work was presented at KoDaFe in NYC 2015, produced by i KADA Contemporary Dance Company at the Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater in New York.
