About the Work

Created through Doug Varone’s DEVICES 4 mentorship program, L’Ancora was presented at the 2017 Choreographic Showcase at Gibney Dance: Agnes Varis Performing Arts Center in New York. Ahn was one of 12 selected choreographers.

Inspired by documented boat accidents, the quartet explores survival, resilience, and coexistence. Four performers from different cultural backgrounds negotiate unexpected forces within a shared space. Through trust, struggle, and care, their encounters ask how people sustain connection amid conflict and uncertainty.

The featured video documents the 2017 DEVICES 4 showcase performance at Gibney Dance in New York. The additional recording features TAMIU students.
